It assumes that consistent remembrance of Allah nurtures self-discipline, patience, and sincerity, forming the moral foundation of students’ daily conduct. Literature review: Previous works by al-Ghazali, Mansor et al. (2023), and Arahman (2025) emphasize that Zikir enhances faith, emotional control, and community unity. However, little research has focused on its implementation in madrasah-based mosque settings, thereby providing the present study’s novelty. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological approach was used, involving participant observation, in-depth interviews with 20 respondents (students, teachers, and mosque supervisors), and documentation analysis. Data were thematically analyzed and validated through triangulation. Results: Findings reveal that structured Zikir sessions, held twice weekly, foster inner calm, social solidarity, and moral resilience, though consistency is challenged by academic schedules. Implications: Incorporating Zikir into the educational process strengthens students’ faith-based character and promotes a holistic model of Islamic learning. Novelty: This research offers a contextual framework for integrating spiritual practices into madrasah mosque settings, combining classical Islamic spirituality with contemporary educational approaches
Abdul Haque Copyright (c) 2025 Walidem International Journal of Community Engagement 2025-12-01 2025-12-01 1 3 123 134 Community Service: Integrating Quranic Literacy and Digital Literacy to Combat Religious Misinformation Among Youth https://journal.walideminstitute.com/index.php/wijce/article/view/471
Objective: This study explores how integrating Quran literacy and digital literacy can empower youth (aged 15-25) to combat religious misinformation online. It aims to equip them with the skills to critically assess and navigate religious content in the digital age. Theoretical framework: Grounded in the service learning model, this research combines experiential learning with community service. It integrates Quranic teachings, Tafsir, and digital literacy, helping youth apply Islamic principles to verify and assess religious content encountered online. Literature review: Research highlights the growing issue of religious misinformation online and the need for critical digital literacy. Studies suggest that combining religious education, like Tafsir, with digital literacy can help individuals discern misinformation. The service learning model is shown to promote personal growth and social responsibility. Methods: The study employed a service-learning-based training program that included theoretical lessons, Tafsir analysis, and case studies. Youth participants (15-25 years old) learned to apply Quranic teachings in evaluating and countering religious misinformation online. Assessments before and after the program measured their improvement in critical thinking and digital engagement. Results: Participants showed significant improvement in their ability to evaluate and reject religious misinformation online, applying Quranic principles to make informed decisions in digital spaces. They also expressed greater confidence in navigating religious content responsibly. Implications: This study highlights the importance of combining religious education with digital literacy to address online misinformation. It suggests that equipping youth with these skills can foster responsible and informed digital engagement with religious content. Novelty: This research is unique in combining Quran literacy and digital literacy to tackle religious misinformation. The framework connects these methods to modern societal challenges, aiming to equip students with tools to address them while staying rooted in Islamic principles. Literature review: Existing research highlights the role of Tafsir methods in improving Quranic comprehension and critical thinking. Studies emphasize the value of practical learning, including case studies and role-playing, to apply Quranic teachings to real-world issues, such as economic inequality and interfaith relations. Methods: A mixed-methods approach was used, involving pre- and post-program surveys, case studies, and role-playing exercises. The program was implemented at Pesantren and Islamic higher education institutions, with data collected from both surveys and interviews to assess students' comprehension and confidence. Results: The program led to significant improvements in students’ understanding of the Quran. Participants showed increased confidence in applying Tafsir methods and using Quranic principles to address contemporary issues. Many expressed a desire to continue their studies and engage in community-based work, indicating intellectual and professional growth. Implications: The study highlights the value of integrating Tafsir Tahlili and Tafsir Maudhui into Islamic education to help students engage with modern issues while adhering to Islamic principles. Practical learning techniques proved effective in enhancing comprehension and critical thinking. Novelty: This study combines Tafsir Tahlili and Tafsir Maudhui in a practical training program that addresses contemporary social challenges, offering a new approach to Quranic education. It provides fresh insights into applying Islamic teachings to modern societal issues.
Muthoifin Andri Nirwana AN M. The fundamental theoretical framework is the fusion of contemporary entrepreneurship techniques with indigenous knowledge. Literature review: According to earlier research, empowering young people through entrepreneurship is essential to reducing economic inequality. However, there is a lack of knowledge on how contemporary business practices and local knowledge might work together to promote sustainable economic success. Methods: Case studies, focus groups with young people in rural locations, and interviews with local business owners were all part of the qualitative methodology. The communities in Central Java, Indonesia, where customs like gotong royong (cooperation) are common, provided the data. Results: Youth empowerment has greatly increased when local entrepreneurial activities, such as small-scale craft and agricultural enterprises, are combined with contemporary market methods. Economic sustainability has resulted from cooperative businesses made possible by traditional traditions like shared resources and mutual collaboration. Implications: According to the study, a supportive atmosphere for young entrepreneurs can be created by fusing Islamic values with local knowledge. The necessity for inclusive economic policies that uphold cultural values and encourage entrepreneurship is emphasized by policy suggestions. Novelty: This study offers insights into culturally sustainable business practices and a novel framework for fusing traditional customs with contemporary entrepreneurship to empower Indonesian youth.
Miranti Merliana Muhammad Maga Sule Copyright (c) 2025 Walidem International Journal of Community Engagement 2025-12-04 2025-12-04 1 3 159 170 Community Empowerment through Islam and Local Wisdom: Bridging Tradition and Modernity https://journal.walideminstitute.com/index.php/wijce/article/view/462
Objective: This study aims to explore the intersection of Islamic teachings and local wisdom in fostering community empowerment, particularly in the context of rural and semi-urban areas in Indonesia. It highlights how integrating Islamic principles with local cultural practices can enhance sustainable development initiatives. Theoretical framework: The analysis is grounded in the theory of social capital, which emphasizes the role of networks, trust, and shared values in community development. The study also incorporates the concept of "empowerment" from an Islamic perspective and indigenous knowledge systems. Literature review: Previous studies have shown the efficacy of blending religious values and local knowledge in community empowerment. However, there is a gap in examining how Islamic principles can coexist with local traditions in empowering marginalized groups. Methods: This qualitative study adopts a case study approach, drawing on interviews, participatory observation, and literature review of Islamic teachings and local wisdom from several Indonesian villages. Results: The findings indicate that local wisdom, such as cooperation (gotong royong) and Islamic teachings like zakat and waqf, contribute significantly to community empowerment. These practices promote social cohesion and collective action in rural areas. Implications: The integration of Islam and local wisdom can serve as a powerful tool for community-driven development, bridging modernity with traditional values. Policy implications suggest the need for inclusive development models that respect and leverage local cultural contexts. Novelty: This study contributes a novel framework for understanding the synergy between Islamic teachings and local wisdom in community empowerment. It offers new insights into culturally appropriate approaches to development that align with both religious and traditional values.
Saif Uddin Ahmed Khondoker Copyright (c) 2025 Walidem International Journal of Community Engagement 2025-12-04 2025-12-04 1 3 171 182
